About the PILI Alumni Program
PILI recently launched an Alumni Program to maximize the natural link between alumni as a conduit into PBI and to generate a philanthropic relationship with alumni both on a personal and institutional level.  The PILI Alumni Program will resemble alumni programs implemented by most colleges and universities. PILI has over 500 alumni from just the past five years alone.  As is evidenced in the young lawyers sections or divisions of many bar associations, young lawyers are extremely active and engaged, and are often incubators for new ideas and projects. We now look to PILI’s young alumni for these contributions. Also, we know that it is essential to engage new and young lawyers in pro bono work early in their career to ensure that it becomes a fixture in their professional experience.

A small group of recent PILI Interns and/or Fellows have met with PILI staff to lay the foundation of the Alumni Program. These young leaders endorsed the concept of the PILI Alumni Program, formed working committees, organized a cocktail reception, and even sponsored an Alumni table at PILI’s December 2007 Annual Awards Luncheon. They are also exploring meaningful ways to promote pro bono work and charitable giving among PILI Alumni.  The founding members of the PILI Alumni Program are Reena Bajowala of Jenner & Block (former Intern and Fellow), Nichole Cain of Pinzur, Cohen & Kerr, Ltd. (former Intern), Katie Deibert of Mayer Brown LLP (former Fellow), Jordan Heinz of Kirkland & Ellis LLP (former Intern and Fellow), and Amanda Jones of DLA Piper US LLP (former Fellow).

Since 1977, there have been over 2,500 PILI Interns and Fellows, many of whom we have lost touch with.  If you know a former PILI Intern or Fellow, please feel free to send them a link to our website so that we can reconnect with them.
